We had been looking at the used bikes in the back of the local shop a week ago, for [livejournal.com profile] djkc, not me, and this one caught my eye. She was still there, and the bike mechanic actually recommended her to me.

So I 'sold' my old bike to [livejournal.com profile] djkc and got her. This is Ye Olde Olde Bike.

New bike is lighter and easier for me to move along the road.

Only 3 speed, but those are three damn useful speeds. And look how easy it is to change gears!

And honestly, the whole build is kinda swanky.

And seriously, this seat? Most comfortable thing I have ever settled my arse upon. And it has shocks. Bumps? No problem.

So. Yeah. Trying to get used to a different handlebar layout/position and hoping my defective body doesnt defeat the attempt. But, dammit, I like her. She is pretty.

That seat is amazing. I want one. I get really tired of the sore ass when riding.

sore ass makes biking so much less enjoyable. I just rode over ten miles and my rump is in excellent shape.

But does it go up hills?

it goes up hills with ease. I haven't had such a pleasant bike ride in ages. Took it across town to the Target plaza by way of the rail trail for its trial run this morning. Maybe I can actually join you sometime. I am getting to be pleasantly in shape

you neglected to mention that biking was like some manner of unholy addiction...
Just got back from another ride.

Shields over the tires = excellent for rainy days/puddles. I tried attaching plastic generic shields to my old bike, and barely noticed a difference. Got a new bike this summer with shields like your new one, and they practically make my splash-pants obsolete. She looks like she'll be a lovely ride!

I am looking forward to a decrease in road splatter on my clothes. first bike I have ever had with tire shields!

aren't bikes fantastic?

Oh Mah Gawd, that is SO FRIKKEN COOL!
you should see the bike blogs i'm reading now, your bike is a queen in that company! i'm riding a mountain bike to work, too, because it was my $80 craigslist baby, but it's not the best bike for the job - even smooth tires would help a lot. you're going to be soooooo happy! <3

I have gone through 3 bikes in about as many months. started with a $40 mountain bike craigslist find, moved to the brown mountain bike in this post (brought it off a friend who was moving) and then...the road bike. this one wasnt bad, $140, nicely refurbed, and I know the bike shop will be happy to see it for its yearly tune up :)

The road bike, after riding a mountain bike for so long, is bliss. Pure bliss. Just...so much easier and quicker to get where I am going. I live in a real hilly area, and not even the hills are that bad anymore, and she is only a 3 speed! been riding to the store and starting to get comfortable ranging further for the rest of my errands. the basket this one came with is fantastic for that as well

seriously, cool. $140 is a killer price - the shiny fenders with the dark paint, that sends me.

...now i wanna muppet dance around with my arms waggling in the air and my head back, biiiiiiiiiiiike~~~
