The most recent in a fantastic progression of Nightside novels, 'The Good, the Bad, and the Uncanny' got back to everything I loved about getting into the series. It opens with another of those clients you know are going to give John Taylor one of his bad days, and from there moves back into revealing more about the Nightside and some of its Major Players.

The Nightside novels read like a cross between Mythos and old PI radio dramas. It is a brilliant juxtaposition. Green has a beautifully offhand way of pointing out things that should have people running and screaming in the other direction, and a wonderfully twisted imagination that never fails to brew things so creepy and so utterly inhuman the books stand well apart from the other urban fantasy available.

Anyone who has followed the series, this one is most definitely worth picking up. It has more of the solid plot feel of the books leading up to and detailing the Lilith War, where we got the character and worldbuilding information along with the antics and desperate situations we have grown to love. We get a touch more background on John himself. A lot of Walker. The Collector. Larry Oblivion. It was just good.

It could have used more Punk God of the Straight Razor, but we know how I am when I decide there is a character I love. There was some Razor Eddie, so I am content. Not much Suzie Shooter though. She is off earning a living for most of the book. Which I am ok with. I am on the line in regards to her.

Good stuff.

For folks who have NO idea what I am talking about, but find themselves intrigued, pick up Something From the Nightside. Brilliant book. Creepy as hell at points.  And Brilliant. Its the first book in the series, and it will probably get you nice and addicted.
