Jul. 4th, 2011 11:13 amA ferret wearing a gator suit is one of the finer things in life. Oliver thoroughly enjoys the gator toy that a member of our rescue brought over for the ferrets yesterday. Ideally, it stands on the ground and ferrets crawl around inside of it and use it as a place to take a nap. Oliver moved it off the top lever of the cage and...this resulted. This, my friends, is why we have ferrets.

Last night was a picnic and impromptu meeting with the rescue. It was fun. Things were grilled. Inappropriate comments were made. Topics not at all comfortable for polite company were brought up. All in all it was a great time. We didn't mean to have a business meeting. It just sort of happened somewhere between ice cream with cherry preserves and actually leaving for the night.
The starling, whose name is Ferdinand, like the bull, has his first vet visit on Thursday. This should be amusing as all hell. Mildmay has been a great sport about having a rather outgoing bird sauntering around the household.
Neither birds nor cats approved of he fireworks being set off in the field across the street last night. To be fair, neither did I, and I adore fireworks. Something about the after midnight time table for their display rubbed me the wrong way. Tonight I expect there shall be funnel cake and fireworks and I shall be far more pleased by the arrangement.
