Life Long Tails
Dec. 9th, 2010 10:06 am Sometimes I wake up in the morning miserable and wanting nothing more than a few more hours of sleep, but I drag myself across town to clean cat kennels for Life Long Tails anyway...
and suddenly life is better because it is full of purring and head butting and general happiness on the part of the cats.
Entire weekends get eaten up by adoption events, which are exhausting and perfectly exhilarating, and I get to see all the dogs who come in from their foster homes for the events. And there is that splendid feeling when a dog, or a cat, or any of the little ones, meet the person who is perfect for them. I have never loved doing something as much as a I love working with Life Long Tails.
I rarely make bids for donations, but if you guys have a dollar or two laying around, consider clicking this link and making a donation to Life Long Tails. We have one little rat terrier in particular, Annie, who needs surgery that is going to cost around $3000. Her original owners neglected her badly enough that her ear canals are completely swollen shut (routine maintenance and, yanno, paying some attention to the honking huge ears on the top of a rat terrier's head could have prevented this) and needs them completely removed. She will be deaf for life, but at least she won't be on constant pain like she is now. Every little bit counts. Trust me. I am doing the whole can redemption thing for Annie-money thing right now on my end :)
This group means the world to me. We are a fantastic bunch of volunteers and the rescue is 100% foster based. This means that our adoptable kids are all socialized and trained, and we put a lot of work into that. Petsmart is kind enough to let us have some of our feline kids visible and up for adoption, and that is where I generally work. I also foster the small animals (ferrets, rabbits, etc) that have been turned over to the group.
Please link this post around. I would love to see Annie get her surgery and get a home. She is a brilliant, funny little dog.
