I will admit I rarely am impressed by book trailers, or use them as a basis for what to read, but Stephen Hunt has an excellent on for Court of the Air hanging out over here which is 100% worth the watch. Having read the book, the trailer made me grin, and then made me want to reread, so well done trailer. well done.

Court of the Air is a fantastic steampunk adventure with an excellent world build and superbly interesting characters. I tore through it, frantically trying to get to the end while not wanting it to ever end...

It is dark, it has an edge to it, and it is oh so very good. There are two main story threads, which can become cumbersome in fantasy, but is carried off with ease here. The book starts quickly with a series of murders that throw otherwise pretty normal youths into the center of the fray. There is a ton of intrigue, which manages to avoid coming off as overdone. Instead it all rolls together nicely in the end. Oh, and did I mention the race of steam men? I will admit to being in it for the steam men. The whole culture that Hunt build around them is enthralling.

Steampunk isnt exactly a huge genre, but this one most definitely stands out amidst all the others I have dug up. Steampunk is a nice juxtaposition between historical/fantasy and bizarre technology, and I honestly adore it above all else when it all comes together as well as Court of the Air.

I would that I could do it justice with a review, but really I just want you all to go read it and then chat about it with me.
