CowCat

A few months ago I took in a nursing mother cat and her kittens. She was frighteningly underweight, everyone was riddled with jumping and wriggling parasites, and somehow Lord Phaedrus knew something was afoot out on the porch (which made for a cranky old cat).

Parasites were killed with enthusiasm and vigor. Kittens were weaned and sent off to foster families, vetted, spayed/neutered, and finally adopted. The mother was slow to gain weight, but damn quick to win me over with her ridiculously loud, albeit a bit hoarse, purr. She was vetted and moved from the porch to the house proper. Where she tried desperately to play with Lord Phaedrus, who would have none of that.

She slowly put on weight. She was spayed. Microchipped. She learned that my bed is really damn comfortable. She dances on her hind legs to beg for treats. She gets up into everything and fears nothing. And she is freakishly endearing.

I just really wish she would not follow me into the bathroom and stare like that.

She's clearly a very clever girl, too: look how she's found herself a comfortable, safe, loving new home.

Thanks for sharing the story. And those pictures.

And congratulations about getting all the kittens homes.

Give Lord Phaedrus an extra cuddle from me.

those three are quite big for kitten, I don't know how to make it so. I have a male cat, he is quite big x)

3 months ago my grandma brought home a kitten, very young. She still needed her mom to nurse her and neither grandma and I knew how to do it, she died :( I was a bit angry at grandma for picking young kitten :|

sadly, the kittens weren't that big, CowCat was just that malnourished and small :( She is doing so much better now though!

I am so sorry you had a kitten die. It is very hard to raise the young ones with bottles- they really do need mom to do best. What is the name of your male cat? my other cats are both big boys, and I love them very much :)

Ehhm, my father and I have this habit, calling all cats Puss or Manis (sweety in English)

This is Father's 2nd son He took him in and raised him when I went to the college, I almost thought he was my replacement because for his entire life my father never ever had had pet.

Oh he is a bit rugged now, since he is like the king cat around my neighborhood (love fighting too much) and that becomes a problem now since my grandma picked another male kitten (need not nursing now) and Manis hates him, I get frustrated every time Manis attacks this kitten, what should I do, this kitten is really sweet and cute TT_TT He hates other male cats except this little guy, not mine, but I feed and pet him that he bounces every time he sees me (well, he is Manis' offspring)

ugh sorry about the picture, too big, then I edited, then it's too stretched .__.

At least she's following you in. Millie has gotten into the habit of going into the bathroom while I'm exercising in the morning, so when I go in there and turn on the light, he's sitting there staring at me.

That is delightfully creepy of Milly. And optimistic.

Cow follows me in, plops into the sink, and stares. She has no shame. At all.

Oh, he stares too. He generally doesn't move from when I get in there until I finish on the toilet and head to the shower. The whole time his expression is one of "Do you mind hurrying up? Some of us have showers to steal into."

He is handsome! I love his tail :D

It took Phaedrus a long time to stop attacking CowCat, and they still don't get along terribly well. CowCat and Mildmay play and cuddle and are best of friends, but not Phaedrus and CowCat. Some cats are just not friendly with each other.

And then he climbs into bed with me, all cold and damp. He is lucky I love him so much.

Lord Phaedrus decided to stand at the bottom of the stairs and yowl at 1am until I came and carried him up to bed. I know he is old and creaky, and I am a sucker, but I do hope this does not become habit. (But yes, I gave him extra cuddles on your behalf. I mean, I had gone through the effort of bringing him up there after all, I may as well pay him tribute).

She is exceedingly clever. It makes her a rather daunting housemate.

Perhaps if you distracted him...you could get him to co-write Grumpy Old Cats with you.

He's lucky I don't change his name to Schuldig. He has the hair for it. Not to mention the temperament.
